The only international airport of French Polynesia is the Tahiti-Faa’a airport (airport code : PPT or NTAA). You will therfore arrive on the island of Tahiti, and then will need to take a domestic flight if you wish to travel to Bora Bora or another island.
Located a few miles from Papeete, the airport of Tahiti-Faa’a and its single landing strip is used for both domestic flights during the day, and for international flights usually arriving at night or very early in the morning.
Located on the East side of the airport, you’ll find there the international check-in counters, the arrival area and the boarding area.
Duty free shops are available in both the departure and arrival areas.
The west side of the airport is dedicated to inter-island flights and you will find there the Air Tahiti check in area, the boarding lounge for domestic flights and a domestic arrival area.
A luggage storage is available in the main lobby of the airport of Tahiti (next to the Hawaiian Airlines office). This storage is open everyday from 5:00AM to 10:00PM.
You will find in the airport some bars and restaurants, souvenir shops, the main car rental companies, banks and currency exchange counters.
Outside of the main building, the “mamas” are presenting their handcraft with the traditionnal flowers and shell leis that make the tahitian welcome so special.
