Your all inclusive trip to the Austral islands
Far from the animated city and the excitement of the most touristic islands, the Austral islands will seduce you with their authenticity. People often prefer to visit more popular islands such as Bora Bora or Tahiti. However this archipelago gathers many wonders both biologically and archaeologically.
The island of Rurutu hides a few gorgeous caves such as that of Ae’o, renamed ‘Mitterand cave‘ after the visit of the former French president in 1990, or the Taupe’e one. The latter is more commonly called “the dragon mouth” due to its shape sculpted by the stalactites and stalagmites.
Besides, every year, from July to November, the whales come to give birth and rest for a while in the Austral warm waters. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch them in their natural habitat.
Eventually, the islands are renowned for excelling in the art of basketry and the work of pandanus fiber. Why don’t you bring a couple of souvenirs back with you?
